HOW TO OBTAIN THE ESTA DOCUMENT?

If you intend to go to one of the countries of America for a short stay, you should know that it is not compulsory to have a visa and that an ESTA certificate will suffice taking into account the reason and the duration of your trip.

WHAT IS AN ESTA DOCUMENT?

The ESTA document is a permit to enter the United States, issued by the United States government. It is issued for individuals whose reasons for traveling are business or convenience trips and if the duration does not exceed 3 months. It must be presented at embarkation and disembarkation at the same time as the passport.

WHAT FORMALITIES SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT TO SEE THE DOCUMENT?

Three days before the boarding forecast, you must complete an ESTA form which you can find on the internet, either on the official website or through professional websites. Then, you must pay the fee claimed for the constitution of your file (between 55 and 80 euros on sites with assistance in French) with your duly completed form. The answer will reach you within 72 hours.

As a general rule, the response will be sent to you within the first hour, but it is possible that your request will be pending in order to be evaluated in more detail, in which case a response will be received no later than 72 hours after submission.

WHAT CAN WE DO WITH AN ESTA DOCUMENT?

ESTA authorization is valid for two years. You can use this permit for multiple entries on American soil (visit the many sites or taste American cuisine ), provided that the circumstances of your trip fall within the clauses of the certificate (the stay does not exceed 90 days on American territory at each visit).

In this case, you just have to change the coordinates of the flights. In the event that you have changed your passport, this document is no longer valid even if the two-year period has not expired. A new request for ESTA must therefore be made.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU RECEIVE A NEGATIVE RESPONSE?

Without the ESTA permit, you will not be able to board a flight departing for the United States. In the event that your request is refused , you must apply for a formal visa. It is also possible to renew the ESTA request, but only ten days after receiving a negative response.
