WHAT IS ESTA?

The ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) was created to facilitate exchanges between the United States and nationals of the 38 countries of the visa waiver program (VWP):

The citizens of these 38 countries will therefore have the obligation to obtain an ESTA during a transit, a tourist trip or a business trip not exceeding 90 days. The ESTA is valid for two years, during which you can make as many trips to the United States as you want, as long as they do not exceed the 90 days mentioned.

THE ESTA FORM

The ESTA request is made in the form of an online form to fill out. The latter is available from the US government website. A series of questions relating to your identity and your journey will be communicated to you. You will also be asked a number of security questions, it is necessary to answer “no” to all of these questions in order to obtain your ESTA.

Errors in the ESTA form are not impossible. A single small error in the ESTA form can cost you your ESTA authorization. If this happens, can I modify my ESTA form? We will answer this question in this second part.

MODIFICATION BEFORE VALIDATION OF THE FORM.

If you wish to correct a response to the form before submitting it, you can modify the ESTA form without problem. You just have to go back and correct your error or make the modification during the verification step. Also be aware that the form is intuitive, so it can recognize certain errors and report them to you.

MODIFICATION OF YOUR ESTA AFTER SUBMISSION OF THE FORM

Note that after submitting the form, only the email address and your address on site (in the USA) can be changed.

If you wish to modify other information, you must make a new request for ESTA.

Since the ESTA is valid for 2 years, your situation may have changed since the request, which may lead to the need to modify your ESTA. If this is the case, you must make a new request for ESTA, unless the change concerns your address on site or that of your email, as previously announced.
