The ESTA form has been put in place to avoid lengthy administrative procedures to obtain a USA visa. There is no need to travel, just download the questionnaire from the appropriate sites.

HOW TO KNOW THE RESPONSE?

The response will arrive within three days at your email address. If the American government is favorable to your coming, it will send you a letter authorizing you to come to the USA. This letter, in the form of a certificate, will include all the information concerning you, including your passport number and the reason for your visit.

It is also possible that your authorization is pending or refused, in this case, there are other alternatives such as having to apply for a visa from the embassy.
